Each person kinda views the BC world layout a bit differently. Personally I imagine a map almost exactly like our own world, and that the books start in the Mediterranean, when they cross over the sea initially they end up in Italy (or somewhere else north side of the Med). From the descriptions of each place/city one can kinda make out where the Company is located. So in book two when they are thousands of miles east I figure they are deep in Russia, perhaps even nearing China or Korea, (Plain of Fear I place as Gobi Desert, etc) then when they have to travel all the way across back west they're ending up in a Scandinavian country, such as Norway. Heart of the empire seems basically central Europe, perhaps Germany. Anyway, that's how I view the geography of the novels (first 3 anyway) and works for me.

That makes sense Fez...especially with Cook's other book Instrumentalities of the Night series is based around the Mediterranean and Italy

I have to go with Fez, I had always gotten a Mediterranean feel from Beryl.

Funny ...I always reckoned it a North American map with the the EU to Asia culture/nation flow, in that order, but southernly.

African Continent (books of the south), stuck under the North American Continent (books of the North).... in my mind.
